I appreciate this post. As a boy many years ago (though not as long ago as the 1920s!), I lived in a suburb west of Philadelphia and still remember the names Wanamaker, Shubert and Horn & Hardart. The house I lived in was still standing as of my last trip east about 15 years ago,

  The people from Macy’s had the good sense to preserve much of what was inherited from Wanamaker’s. You might feel right at home standing by the Iggle and enjoying an organ concert, if you were to return to Philadelphia.
